The Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost budget and planning team leads budget development, capital projects, and resource planning activities, as well as the attendant policies, procedures, and communications for the Division of Academic Affairs in support of Iowa State University’s mission and vision.

The team is responsible for the distribution of tuition revenue and coordination of the tuition and fee policy within the division, including the annual development of tuition proposals. Planning and budget responsibilities include providing the senior academic fiscal officers in each of the colleges and units across the academic affairs division leadership and direction regarding finance and capital resources, including developing policies, requirements, and processes for them.

We outline the budget roadmap for budget planning, as well as obtain feedback regarding budget policies, proposed model changes, and communications of shared responsibilities. With this feedback, proposals for budget model modifications are developed, as well budget development processes, procedures and policies for discussion with senior budget leaders.

We lead the capital project review and approval process in the Division of Academic Affairs, including new buildings, addition and expansion of existing buildings, lease renewals, and renovation and refurbishment of teaching, research, classroom, laboratory, field, and office facilities, while closely coordinating with Facilities Planning and Management, the Senior Vice President for Operations and Finance, and client academic units.
